What is Osechi?
Osechi is a traditional Japanese New Year (Oshogatsu) meal, beautifully presented in lacquered boxes called jūbako. Each dish in Osechi has a symbolic meaning, representing wishes for health, happiness, and prosperity in the coming year. For example, sweet black soybeans (kuromame) symbolizing hard work and good health, or sweet omelets (datemaki) signifying knowledge and learning. A cherished part of Japanese culture, Osechi is as much about tradition as it is about sharing a meal with loved ones.
What's in Fujiya's 1-tier Osechi?
You can expect to find a range of traditional Osechi items including: sweet potato mash (kuri kinton), black beans (kuromame), herring roe (kazunoko), sweet omelet (datemaki), candied sardines (tazukuri), shrimp (ebi), bamboo shoot (takenoko), burdock root (gobo), konjac (konnyaku), and arrowhead (kuwai).
Other items include: salmon roe (ikura), black cod (gindara), chicken meatballs (tsukune), beef roll (nikumaki), simmered vegetables, and decoration.
Our Osechi is in a lacquer box and will include a document explaining the menu and meanings of the ingredients. Please note no chopsticks or napkins are included.
What should I know before ordering?

During checkout, you will see questions regarding baran (plastic grass decoration), cutlery, and condiments. Do note this is not applicable for Osechi orders, only party tray orders
